Ever Wondered Where All Your Time Goes?

Ever Wondered Where All Your Time Goes?

share:

We have entered into a global work from home experiment in the past few weeks, now we are wondering where all our time has gone each day.

The Problem

Even if you’ve worked from home occasionally in the past, being forced to work from a computer every day may require you to change some of your day-to-day habits to get work completed. Fortunately, there are lots of apps designed to help you be more productive, the first thing before introducing new tools is to understand where your time really goes by measuring it.

A challenge with this is finding the time to record the time, and forming the habit you need to be consistent with it.

The Solution

Automatic time recording software. A great tool thats available for use for all major platforms (Windows/MacOs/Android/iOs) is RescueTime. This tool once installed on your device will actively monitor what you are doing, when you are doing it and record it for you in a dashboard. After about 1-2 weeks of use you will start to understand and have a really clear picture of what you really do and then ask questions about what can I do differently to get the same work results in less time.

The great thing about this tool is its available for individuals or for teams. The individual RescueTime plan lite is free forever! This gives you the fundamentals of time recording and you can even evaluate the premium version for 2 weeks if you want.

Summary

Whilst there are many tools in the market today you help you and your team manage your time better the focus has to be on making it easy to do or it will not be done.

We use Time Rescue to help us make plan, scale and get the most out of our time as we know we cannot find more time but we can optimise our use of it.
